Prof. Dr. Elif Gürsoy, a faculty member in the Department of Nursing at our Faculty, has been awarded the Fellow Ad Eundem (FFNMRCSI) Fellowship by the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).
Prof. Dr. Gürsoy’s national and international academic, professional, and societal contributions in the fields of women’s health, gender equality, prevention of violence against women, health policies, nursing education, and nursing leadership played a significant role in her being awarded the Fellowship. As the Founder and President of the Nursing Leadership Association (HELİD), Prof. Dr. Gürsoy continues her national and international efforts to strengthen nursing leadership, with the aim of developing the next generation of nurse leaders, preparing nursing students for leadership roles, enabling nurses to play a more active role in decision-making processes, and contributing to the development of health policies. Commenting on the Fellowship, Prof. Dr. Gürsoy stated that she was deeply honored to receive this distinction. She emphasized that being recognized by her international colleagues and being selected for this fellowship carries great significance for her and expressed her gratitude to everyone who believed in and supported her throughout this journey. The Fellow Ad Eundem (FFNMRCSI) title will be officially conferred upon Prof. Dr. Elif Gürsoy by the RCSI Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at a ceremony to be held on 7 December 2026 in Dublin, Ireland.
Founded in 1784, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) is regarded as one of Ireland’s long-established and highly respected institutions of education and research in the health sciences. The Fellow Ad Eundem (FFNMRCSI) Fellowship, awarded by the RCSI Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, is conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and/or exceptional leadership in nursing, midwifery, or related fields of science; made significant contributions to the profession; and had a positive impact on health and society. Described by the RCSI as “one of the most prestigious professional qualifications” awarded to nurses and midwives, the Fellowship enables recipients to join a broad professional network worldwide and provides opportunities to develop research and professional collaborations.
